How Spectrum Is Allocated
Radio spectrum is a finite national resource managed by regulatory bodies such as the FCC (US), Ofcom (UK), BNetzA (Germany), and TRAI (India). Operators acquire spectrum licenses through competitive auctions where they bid for specific frequency blocks in defined geographic areas. Auction formats include simultaneous multi-round ascending (SMRA), combinatorial clock auction (CCA), and sealed-bid formats.
