FDD vs TDD in 5G NR

Card 1 of 520%

Duplexing in 5G NR

Like LTE, 5G NR supports both Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) and Time Division Duplexing (TDD). FDD uses paired spectrum — one band for uplink, one for downlink — running simultaneously. TDD uses a single band and alternates between uplink and downlink in time. In 5G, TDD dominates because the key mid-band and mmWave spectrum is all unpaired.
