Finding Your First Issue

Both Open5GS and free5GC use GitHub issue labels including "good first issue", "help wanted", and "documentation". These are curated by maintainers as approachable entry points. Start there. Read the issue, the discussion threads, and any linked code. Comment on the issue saying you would like to take it — this prevents duplicate work and signals to maintainers. If you have a question, ask in the issue (not separately) so context stays threaded.
