How eDRX Works

Discontinuous Reception (DRX) is the standard cellular technique where the device wakes periodically to check for pages rather than listening continuously. Standard DRX cycles are 1.28 seconds in LTE. Extended DRX (eDRX) extends the cycle to seconds, minutes, or even tens of minutes, dramatically reducing the device's paging-cycle energy.
