4G LTE Essentials
Single Radio Voice Call Continuity addresses a critical scenario where a subscriber on an active VoLTE call moves out of LTE coverage into an area served only by 3G or 2G. Without SRVCC, the call would simply drop when LTE signal fades. SRVCC performs a coordinated handover that transfers the voice session from the LTE packet-switched domain to the legacy circuit-switched domain, moving both the radio connection and the call control anchor so the conversation continues without interruption.
Try these first, even if you're not sure. Guessing primes your brain.
A VoLTE user leaves LTE but still has 3G. Drop or transfer?
After SRVCC, LTE returns. Rebuild the call on LTE or keep it on 3G?
SRVCC spans LTE packet and 3G circuit cores. What connects them?
Answer all 3to continue — it's OK to be wrong.
