G.8275.1 defines a PTP telecom profile requiring PTP-aware boundary clocks at every node in the transport path between grandmaster and slave. Every switch and router processes PTP messages, terminates and regenerates timestamps, and participates in the Best Master Clock Algorithm to select the best timing source. This full on-path support provides the highest timing accuracy because each boundary clock isolates packet delay variation to a single hop.
