Transport Dimensioning Methodology
Transport dimensioning starts with the radio network plan and works backward to size every link and node in the transport chain. The process begins by estimating peak and average throughput per cell sector based on spectrum bandwidth, spectral efficiency, and subscriber loading. These per-cell figures are then aggregated at each transport node — aggregation switches carry traffic from multiple cells, and core routers carry traffic from multiple aggregation sites.
