S-NSSAI: SST and SD explained
The Slice Identity: S-NSSAI
Every network slice is identified by an S-NSSAI (Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information). It is the unique address of a slice within the network. An S-NSSAI consists of two parts: the SST (Slice/Service Type), a mandatory one-byte field with values 0 through 255 that identifies the category of service, and the SD (Slice Differentiator), an optional three-byte field that distinguishes slices within the same SST. The standardized SST values are 1 for eMBB, 2 for URLLC, 3 for MIoT, 4 for V2X, and 5 for HMTC.
