Active DAS Architecture
Active DAS digitizes the RF signal at a central headend unit and distributes it over fiber optic or Category 6 Ethernet cables to remote radio units distributed throughout the building. The headend, also called the master unit, connects to operator base stations and converts their RF outputs into digital streams. These digital signals travel over low-loss fiber to remote units on each floor, where they are converted back to RF and radiated through integrated or external antennas.
