Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)
Quantum Key Distribution uses quantum mechanical properties to generate and distribute encryption keys with information-theoretic security. QKD exploits the no-cloning theorem — any attempt to intercept a quantum key disturbs the quantum state and is immediately detectable. BB84 and E91 protocols are the most established QKD schemes. Fiber-based QKD has been demonstrated over 400+ km, and satellite-based QKD (Chinas Micius satellite) has achieved intercontinental key distribution.
