GBR vs non-GBR vs delay-critical GBR

Three Resource Types for Three Needs

5G defines three QoS resource types that handle the full spectrum of service requirements. GBR (Guaranteed Bit Rate) flows receive a reserved minimum bandwidth from the network, ensuring consistent throughput regardless of congestion. These flows are used for services that need steady data rates like VoNR calls, video conferencing, and live streaming, mapped to 5QI values 1 through 4 and 65 through 67. Non-GBR flows operate on a best-effort basis with no bandwidth guarantee, suitable for web browsing, email, and app downloads, using 5QI values like 5 through 9.
