Multiple Simultaneous Sessions

A 5G UE can maintain up to 15 simultaneous PDU sessions, each identified by a unique combination of PDU Session ID, DNN, and S-NSSAI. This enables use cases like accessing the public internet, IMS for voice, and a private enterprise network all at the same time through separate sessions. Each session has its own IP address, QoS flows, UPF, and potentially its own network slice. The UE operating system routes traffic to the correct session based on URSP (UE Route Selection Policy) rules delivered by the PCF.
