It can be triggered by the UE requesting new QoS, the PCF pushing a policy change, or the SMF detecting a condition that requires adjustment. Release terminates the session entirely, cleaning up all associated resources. Release can be UE-initiated when data is no longer needed, network-initiated when the operator intervenes, or triggered by the AMF during deregistration.
