NRF: NF discovery and registration
The NRF — Service Registry of 5GC
The NRF is the Network Function Repository Function that makes the entire Service-Based Architecture work. Without the NRF, NFs would need static configuration to find each other, which defeats the purpose of a dynamic cloud-native architecture. Every NF registers its profile with the NRF at startup, advertising its NF type, the services it offers, its capacity, location, supported network slices, and current load. The NRF stores these profiles and responds to discovery queries from consumer NFs looking for a specific service producer.
