Every 5GC Network Function exposes its capabilities through a named service-based interface following a consistent convention. The prefix is always the letter N followed by the lowercase NF abbreviation. The AMF exposes Namf, the SMF exposes Nsmf, and the UDM exposes Nudm. When one NF needs a service, it discovers the producing NF through the NRF and calls the relevant API endpoint. This naming convention makes the architecture self-documenting and allows any NF to act as both a service producer and a service consumer simultaneously.
